It's either swap my A4 with the 4.2 from the A8, and go from there. OR have the A4 remain a DD and build an S4 in greater detail on the side. Or a W8 swap, but nobody does those.
I'm now conflicted. What does Oppo think.

LS SWAP OR BUST!
I actually like the idea of the W8 swap. As long as you are ready for the grievances that come with it, or so I've heard.

W8 HAS to go in a wagon! It just fits.
I've been obsessed with older TT's lately. Because I like to burn money...

Turbo or go understeer home.
I love Audis, but thought of adding more weight out front makes me sad.

Flat-four! Flat-four!
Or, as everyone else stated, the W8 (or W12) idea sounds nifty.

If you're a VW mechanic, go for it.
If not, then no. Too much work and stress for a product that will be good, but not worth the amount of work and time you put into it.

I have an A4 to dd and a built S4 but I end up dding the S4 cause why the hell not. I couldn't do it if I didn't do all my own work.

So you got a stock A4 with a turbo? I say get a nice stage 2/3 flash, the needed stuff to make it perform and put the cash left over into details like clutch, brakes and suspension.

I'm not, but I'd honestly rather have a built A4 than a new car of the same value to be honest.

No, I've got the 2.8 V6. So no chips for me.

but y, it's only going to cost you a lot of money. Just buy an S4 already put together.

BUILT NOT BOUGHT BRO.
It won't cost all that much for a modified S4, if I decided to take that route Probably $15,000 and I really love these cars so I'd consider it worth it.

But $7k will get me a B5 S4, and another $7k will get me an E34 destroyer.

wonder how you'd go just turbo'ing the existing A4's engine? and doing RS4 body kit for the looks. Perhaps an interior swap? Make it something unique/your own

Actually, an aluminum LS swap would probably help the weight distribution.... Just sayin'

Whereas a W8 engine would not. Unless it's lighter than I think.

It would be easier to work with because of the space.
I found this though, saying it's about 420 lbs:
